Nano Banana Pro + Kling 3.0 - turning a toy T-Rex into a real one

A mascot T-Rex goes from glossy toy to photoreal and hands over a real tan shoulder bag

Nano Banana Pro + Kling 3.0 - turning a toy T-Rex into a real one

In today's "animal frames" series I did a test spot styled on Coach's look. A woman in a denim jacket stands in a white studio, and a T-Rex walks in and hands her a tan Tabby bag. Coach isn't a client, this was just a test. The dinosaur is Rexy, Coach's T-Rex mascot since 2015, and my first version of him looked like a plastic toy. This post is about how I made him real.

Here's my exact process.

1. The room

A white studio from a prompt, window on the left, then a pass for the white floor.

Empty white studio with window light and long mullion shadows on a pale floor, made with Nano Banana Pro

Exact prompt

Create a new photorealistic image. This is a photograph taken inside a minimalist white studio from the start — not a composite. Shoot the whole space natively, with a single unified natural light source across every surface. THE VIBE: Austere, hushed, expensive emptiness — the pared-back quiet-luxury minimalism of a high-fashion campaign set before anything is placed in it. The room feels intellectual and cool, precise but not sterile, where the quality of light and the fall of a shadow are the only events. Stillness and generous negative space. THE SETTING: A clean, modern white studio — a seamless matte-white cyclorama sweep curving gently from floor to wall with no visible seam, its surface carrying the faintest real texture and tonal variation so it reads as painted plaster, not a flat digital void. A polished pale microcement floor with a soft satin sheen, subtle and almost imperceptible reflections. One tall floor-to-ceiling window just out of frame to the left. Architectural, uncluttered, refined proportions. THE LIGHT: Soft directional daylight raking in low from the left through the unseen window, casting long, clean, elongated geometric shadows across the white sweep and floor — the crisp diagonal of a window frame and mullions stretched across the wall. Gentle falloff from bright highlight to soft grey shadow, smooth gradients, no harsh clipping. Cool-neutral white balance with the faintest warmth where the sun lands. THE KEY DETAILS: The natural window-cast shadows are the subject — long, soft-edged diagonal bars and a rectangle of light on the floor. Delicate dust motes suspended in the light shaft. Subtle tonal gradation across the seamless wall. THE MOOD: Editorial, muted, cold-clinical calm with a breath of warmth. Restrained luxury. A clean neutral grade, whites held just off pure white, soft grey shadows, nothing oversaturated. THE COMPOSITION: Wide architectural frame, eye level, straight-on and balanced. Vast negative space with the shadows placed on a rule-of-thirds diagonal as the leading lines; low emphasis, open airy upper frame. THE CAMERA: Cinematic editorial architectural still — wide framing, eye-level straight position, deep focus with everything sharp edge to edge, lit exclusively by the single window daylight source with no studio strobes and no artificial separation, a clean cool-neutral naturalistic grade in the vein of Roger Deakins' understated natural light. Light falls off gently toward the frame edges. Hyperreal, tactile, every surface present.

Create a new photorealistic image, but the floor is now white. Preserve everything else from the reference exactly — the seamless matte-white cyclorama wall, the soft low directional daylight from the left, the long clean geometric window-cast shadows, the composition, framing, grade and mood all stay identical. THE FLOOR (CHANGED): The floor is now a clean matte white, continuous with the seamless white cyclorama sweep so wall and floor read as one unbroken white surface, no visible seam. A soft satin sheen with subtle, almost imperceptible reflections, the faintest real texture and tonal variation so it reads as painted plaster rather than a flat digital void — never pure clipped white. THE SETTING (LOCKED): The minimalist white studio, the seamless curving cyclorama, the tall floor-to-ceiling window just out of frame to the left. Do NOT redesign the environment. THE LIGHT (LOCKED): Soft directional daylight raking in low from the left, casting long, clean, elongated geometric window-frame and mullion shadows across the white sweep and now the white floor, with gentle falloff to soft grey and smooth gradients. Cool-neutral white balance with the faintest warmth where the sun lands. Delicate dust motes in the light shaft. THE MOOD (LOCKED): Editorial, muted, cold-clinical calm with a breath of warmth, restrained luxury, clean neutral grade, whites held just off pure white. THE COMPOSITION (LOCKED): Wide architectural frame, eye level, straight-on, vast negative space, the shadows on a rule-of-thirds diagonal as leading lines, open airy upper frame. THE CAMERA (LOCKED): Cinematic editorial architectural still, deep focus everything sharp edge to edge, lit exclusively by the single window daylight source, clean cool-neutral naturalistic grade, gentle edge falloff. Hyperreal and tactile.

2. Real product photos

This was one of my first spots with real product photos. I pulled two from Coach's own image server: the Signature Denim Trucker Jacket, mid-blue with the tonal C monogram, and the Tabby 26 in tan Signature coated canvas. The rest of the outfit stays plain on purpose: white tee, off-white wide-leg trousers, white loafers. Rexy is the color hit.

3. Dress her

Two references. The room comes from a pose frame from an earlier spot, and I told the model to ignore the person in it and take only the room. The second is the jacket photo.

PREAMBLE: A luxury fashion-campaign still in a clean white studio — the opening pose frame of a women's spot. Premium, chic, with a playful edge. Use the EXACT studio from the first reference and the EXACT jacket from the second reference. THE VIBE: Elevated American heritage-cool. Clean, confident, editorial. THE SUBJECT: ONE single female model, mid-20s, elegant, natural makeup, hair in a sleek low style. Standing at rest, poised and confident, slight contrapposto. No clones, exactly one person. IGNORE the person, gender, and clothing shown in the first reference image — that image is ONLY for the room. The model is FEMALE and wears the Coach outfit described below. THE FACE: Beautiful, composed, approachable. Looking toward camera. THE OUTFIT (MATCH THE SECOND REFERENCE EXACTLY): She wears the exact Coach Signature Denim Trucker Jacket from the second reference image — mid-blue denim trucker jacket with the allover tonal Coach "C" signature monogram print, button-down collar, chest flap pockets, worn open. Under it a crisp white tee. Paired with clean tailored off-white wide-leg trousers and white leather loafers. The jacket must read as that specific Coach signature-C denim trucker. THE ANIMAL: None in this frame. No animal. No handbag yet. THE SETTING (UNCHANGED FROM FIRST REFERENCE — MATCH EXACTLY): The exact same white cyclorama studio as the first reference — tall WINDOW on the LEFT with the diagonal daylight across the floor, bright reflective left wall, same white floor and floor-to-wall curve. Keep the window, the diagonal light, and the left-side reflection exactly. THE LIGHT: Soft daylight from the left window casting the signature diagonal light-and-shadow across the white floor. THE KEY DETAILS: Clean, premium. Lots of open white space to her right (floor for the animal to enter later). THE COMPOSITION: WIDE framing. The model stands SMALL in the LEFT THIRD, full-body, plenty of white space around and to the right of her. Low on the floor, big airy negative space above. THE CAMERA: Straight-on, eye-level, static. 16:9.

4. Rexy, three times

This is where it got fun.

First pass: the pose frame plus the Tabby photo, with Rexy described as a glossy apple-green toy T-Rex. It looked goofy. Rejected.

Second pass: I fed that frame back in with the bag photo and swapped him for a photoreal T-Rex. Pebbled scaly hide, real muscle, still Rexy green but mottled and natural, around human scale.

Third pass: two fixes. A mirror had shown up on the right wall, so I asked to delete it. And he was grinning like a cartoon, so I asked for a calm, serious predator face with the lips closed over the teeth.

The bag photo went in on every pass, so the Tabby stays the same bag every time.

A polished, fashion-campaign still — same clean white studio, same elegant female model, now joined by an impossible brand mascot delivering a handbag. THE VIBE: playful luxury surrealism. A heritage-chic Coach moment interrupted by a vivid, impossible creature — the single pop of color in an otherwise restrained palette. THE SUBJECT: the SAME female model from the first reference image (identical face, hair, build). She is wearing the EXACT SAME outfit — the blue Coach Signature-C denim trucker jacket over a white tee, off-white wide-leg trousers, white loafers. She stands in the left third, turned slightly toward the right, reaching out with a warm, delighted expression to receive a handbag. THE FACE: keep her face identical to the first reference — same features, same complexion, natural confident smile. THE ANIMAL: a Tyrannosaurus Rex — but rendered in bright, saturated APPLE-GREEN, glossy and smooth like a toy figurine, Coach's "Rexy" mascot brought to life at roughly human scale. It enters from the RIGHT side of the frame, standing upright on its two legs, leaning in toward the model. In its tiny front arms / mouth it is offering the handbag toward her. Friendly, characterful, big expressive eye. It is the ONLY vivid color in the frame. THE PRODUCT: the handbag Rexy is delivering is the EXACT bag from the second reference image — the tan/khaki Coach Tabby in Signature "C" coated canvas with the brass hangtag and chain-and-leather strap. Render it faithfully: same color, same signature monogram, same hardware. THE SETTING (UNCHANGED FROM FIRST REFERENCE): keep the identical white studio — the window on the LEFT wall casting a soft diagonal shaft of daylight, the mirror on the left, the seamless white floor-to-wall backdrop. Do not change the room. THE LIGHT: soft, bright, diagonal daylight from the left window; clean shadows; luxury-catalog crispness. THE KEY DETAILS: the green of Rexy reads as a toy-glossy apple green; the Tabby bag stays accurate tan Signature canvas; hand-off is mid-moment, bag held between them. THE COMPOSITION: 16:9 wide. Model left third, Rexy entering right third, open bright space between them, handbag at the meeting point. Full figures visible, airy headroom. THE CAMERA: eye-level, ~50mm, shallow-ish depth, everything sharp on the subjects.

Refine the attached delivery-frame image. Keep EVERYTHING the same — same female model, same face, same blue Coach Signature-C denim trucker + white tee + off-white trousers + white loafers, same white window studio with the diagonal daylight and mirror on the left, same composition, same tan Coach Tabby handbag being handed over — but REPLACE the dinosaur entirely. THE ONE CHANGE — THE ANIMAL: swap the cartoonish, glossy plastic-toy green dinosaur for a PHOTOREALISTIC Tyrannosaurus Rex. Render it like a real creature / a high-end natural-history or film VFX dinosaur: - Textured, scaly reptilian hide with fine pebbled skin detail, visible musculature, folds and creases, subtle sheen of real skin — NOT smooth, NOT glossy plastic, NOT a figurine. - Keep the color a rich Rexy-green (so it still reads as Coach's mascot) but naturalistic: deeper, mottled green with darker tonal variation, lighter underbelly, believable shading — like a real animal that happens to be green, not a toy. - Realistic anatomy: powerful hind legs, thick tail for balance, detailed head with layered teeth, textured gums, a sharp intelligent eye with a real catchlight, nostrils, small realistic forearms. - It is still at roughly human scale, entering from the RIGHT, leaning in to deliver the Coach Tabby bag toward the model, friendly rather than threatening. THE PRODUCT: the handbag stays the EXACT tan Coach Tabby in Signature "C" coated canvas from the second reference — same color, monogram, brass hangtag and chain-and-leather strap. THE LIGHT: the realistic T-Rex must sit naturally in the scene's lighting — soft diagonal daylight from the left window, grounded contact shadow on the white floor, correct reflections. Everything else in the frame is unchanged. This is a photoreal creature composited into the clean luxury studio.

Refine the attached image. Keep EVERYTHING the same — same female model, same face, same blue Coach Signature-C denim trucker + white tee + off-white trousers + white loafers, same tan Coach Tabby handbag being handed over, same photorealistic green T-Rex, same soft diagonal daylight from the window on the LEFT, same seamless white studio. Make only these two changes: 1. REMOVE THE MIRROR: there is a tall mirror / reflective glass panel against the RIGHT wall behind the dinosaur. Delete it entirely. The right wall and back wall should be a plain, clean, seamless white studio surface with nothing on it — no mirror, no panel, no frame, no reflection. Pure empty white cyclorama. 2. FIX THE DINOSAUR'S EXPRESSION: right now its face looks goofy / cartoonishly smiling. Make it look like a REAL predator — a serious, calm, intelligent apex-animal expression. Close or relax the wide grin into a natural reptilian mouth (lips resting over the teeth, not a big toothy smile), a focused intent eye, subtle and dignified rather than silly. Still friendly enough to be delivering the bag, but believable and a little majestic — the way a real tyrannosaur would actually hold its head. Keep the realistic pebbled green hide, musculature and anatomy exactly. Everything else — the model, her pose and clothing, the Tabby bag, the lighting, the floor shadow, the camera angle — stays identical.

5. Logo card

The delivery frame for the room, plus the real Coach horse-and-carriage logo. Quick warning: the SVG file got rejected and the full-size PNG was blocked. A small thumbnail PNG is what finally worked. I added "exactly once" and it rendered clean.

Horse-and-carriage logo in the center of an empty white studio, made with Nano Banana Pro
Nano Banana Pro$0.13

Exact prompt

A clean brand end-card for a fashion campaign. THE SETTING: the EXACT same white studio from the first reference image — the window on the LEFT casting a soft diagonal shaft of daylight, the seamless white floor-to-wall cyclorama, the clean reflective floor. BUT the studio is now EMPTY — no model, no dinosaur, no handbag. Just the pristine, bright white room with its window light. THE LOGO: centered in the frame, place the Coach brand logo from the SECOND reference image — the horse-and-carriage emblem above the word "COACH" in Coach's classic serif wordmark. Render it in clean black (or very dark charcoal) against the white wall, crisp and perfectly legible, as if it has snapped cleanly onto the wall as the final brand lockup. HARD CONSTRAINT: render the Coach logo EXACTLY ONCE. Do NOT duplicate, echo, mirror, repeat, or tile the logo anywhere in the frame. One single centered logo only. THE COMPOSITION: 16:9. The logo sits centered, tasteful, at a size that feels like a premium end-card — not too large. Lots of clean negative space, the window light adding subtle atmosphere on the left. Minimal, elegant, luxury. THE LIGHT: soft, bright, diagonal daylight from the left window; airy and clean.

6. A start frame with no logo

The walk-in needs an empty room, and my end card has the logo on it. So I passed the end card back in and asked for the same studio with blank walls.

Empty white studio with window light and blank walls, made with Nano Banana Pro
Nano Banana Pro$0.13

Exact prompt

A clean, empty fashion studio — the EXACT same white studio from the reference image: the window on the LEFT casting a soft diagonal shaft of daylight across the floor, the seamless white floor-to-wall cyclorama, the clean reflective floor. The room is COMPLETELY EMPTY: no people, no model, no animal, no handbag, and NO logo or text anywhere on the walls. Just the pristine, bright, empty white studio with its window light. Pure blank white cyclorama walls. 16:9, eye-level, ~50mm, soft bright diagonal daylight from the left window. Minimal, airy, premium.

7. Walk-in, take two

My first take had her come in from the left. Everyone in this series enters from the right, so I redid it and named the right side in the prompt.

Kling 3.0$0.84

Exact prompt

A fashion-campaign walk-in shot in a clean white studio. Camera locked and static throughout. THE STARTING FRAME: an empty, bright white window-lit studio — window on the LEFT casting a diagonal shaft of daylight, seamless white cyclorama, clean floor. No people. THE ENDING FRAME: the female model in the blue Coach Signature-C denim trucker, white tee, off-white wide-leg trousers and white loafers, standing poised in the left third, glancing toward the open right side. [SCENE] The female model enters the frame walking in from the RIGHT side, strides gracefully across the studio toward the LEFT, and settles onto her mark in the left third in a poised, relaxed stand, weight shifting naturally onto one hip. Her wide-leg trousers and open denim jacket sway softly; her hair shifts gently. As she settles she gives a subtle, warm turn of the head back toward the open right side of the frame, as if aware something is about to arrive. Keep the studio, window light on the LEFT, floor and her outfit perfectly consistent. Natural, grounded human motion and physics — real walking, feet planting on the floor, no gliding, no moonwalking, no morphing. Elegant, editorial, premium pacing. No animals, no handbag.

8. Rexy delivers

Pose frame to delivery frame. He strides in, lowers his head and offers the bag, and she reaches out and takes it. I told it to keep the real scaly hide and anatomy, a believable creature, not a toy.

I also tested two cheaper video models on this exact clip. Both failed on the T-Rex's movement, so I stayed with the model I use for the rest of the series. One more thing I re-checked here: give a clip only a start frame and no end frame, and it makes up everything after the first frame. Always bind both.

A fashion-campaign delivery shot in a clean white studio. Camera locked and static throughout. THE STARTING FRAME: the female model in the blue Coach Signature-C denim trucker, white tee, off-white trousers and white loafers, standing poised in the left third of the bright white window studio, alone, glancing toward the open right side. THE ENDING FRAME: a photorealistic Rexy-green Tyrannosaurus Rex has entered from the right and leans in; the model reaches out and the real tan Coach Signature-canvas Tabby bag is being handed over between them. [SCENE] Over the shot, the photorealistic green T-Rex strides in smoothly from the right side of the frame, carrying/presenting the tan Coach Tabby bag. It lowers its head calmly toward the model as it offers the bag. The model turns toward it with a warm, delighted expression and extends her arm to receive the bag, her denim jacket and trousers shifting naturally with the motion. The moment ends exactly on the hand-off, bag held between them. Keep the studio, window light on the LEFT, floor, and her outfit perfectly consistent. The T-Rex must keep realistic scaly green hide, musculature and anatomy — believable creature, not a toy. Natural, grounded motion and physics: the dinosaur's feet plant on the floor, no gliding, no moonwalking, no morphing. Realistic weight and movement.

9. Walk-off

She turns with the bag and walks out right with Rexy beside her, and the logo shows up once on the back wall.

Kling 3.0$0.84

Exact prompt

A fashion-campaign walk-off / end-card shot in a clean white studio. Camera locked and static throughout. THE STARTING FRAME: the female model in the blue Coach denim trucker holding the tan Coach Tabby bag, standing with the photorealistic green T-Rex that has just handed it to her, in the bright white window studio. THE ENDING FRAME: the studio is now completely empty — no model, no dinosaur, no bag — just the clean white window-lit room with the black Coach horse-and-carriage logo and "COACH" wordmark centered on the back wall. [SCENE] The model, now holding her Tabby bag, turns and walks off toward the RIGHT side of the frame with the green T-Rex ambling alongside her; together they exit the frame to the right. As the last of them leaves, the room is left empty and bright, and the Coach horse-and-carriage logo with the COACH wordmark cleanly resolves / fades onto the back wall, centered, as the final brand lockup. Keep the studio, window light on the LEFT, and floor perfectly consistent. Natural, grounded motion — feet planting, no gliding or moonwalking, realistic weight. The T-Rex keeps its realistic green scaly hide and anatomy as it walks off. The logo must appear exactly once, centered, clean black on white. No duplicated logos.

Why it works

Rexy only worked once he looked like a real animal. As a glossy toy he was goofy. As a real dinosaur politely handing over a bag, he's the impossible beat the spot needs, and the real bag and jacket photos keep the product exact.

Your turn: if your brand has a cartoon mascot, try it once as a real animal and see which one you'd post.

Emero writes the prompts for you and remembers your brand and products, at cost.
