Nano Banana Pro - 10 shot skincare campaign from a moodboard

How I turned a Y2K pink moodboard and one product photo into a 10 shot skincare campaign

Nano Banana Pro - 10 shot skincare campaign from a moodboard

Ever build a moodboard you love and then get images back that look nothing like it?

I wanted to see how close I could get with one Pinterest-style board and one product photo. The board was all pink Y2K stuff: bubblegum, a dripping glass of milk, a soft-serve cone, glossy lips, pink sunglasses and a designer monogram wall. The product was a pink cica toner from medicube. They're not a client, I just wanted a real product to test with. I made 10 square images in one go, 5 with people and 5 of just the product.

Here's my exact process.

1. Have the agent read the moodboard back to you

First, I drop the moodboard into the chat and say "study it and understand the aesthetic then repeat to me what you learned". I don't write a single prompt yet.

What came back was split into six parts, and honestly I wouldn't have written half of this down myself:

  • Color: almost all pink, from pale ballet pink to hot magenta. The only break was the cone against a blue sky and sea.
  • Era and attitude: early 2000s girly glam, a little bratty, kind of "spoiled".
  • Motifs: sweets (gum, a dripping drink, soft-serve), beauty rituals (lip gloss, long almond nails) and accessories (pink sunglasses, a feather boa, a rhinestone phone).
  • Texture: everything glossy, wet or fluffy.
  • Light: soft and pink-tinted, sometimes a flash snapshot, with a faded print feel and a few cut-out collage edits.
  • Composition: tight crops on lips, hands and nails, mixed with simple product shots on plain pink.

Pretty much every prop, light and crop in my 10 shots came from that list.

2. Swap out anything you don't own

My board had a real celebrity in it and a real luxury monogram on a wall. Neither of those belongs in an ad you'd actually run. So I kept the idea and made my own: a pink wall with coral stars and a "PC" monogram, and models that don't exist.

Exact prompt

Create a new photorealistic image. Preserve the exact bottle, label and colours of the product, from the first reference. THE VIBE: A DIY Tumblr collage from 2008 — a cut-out girl posing against loud designer-style wallpaper, all attitude. Cheeky, confident, a little glitchy. IDENTITY LOCK: The product from the first reference — the tall clear cylindrical bottle with a white flip-top cap, filled with translucent blush-pink liquid, a white label band with the dark-grey "medicube" wordmark and "PDRN PINK CICA SOOTHING TONER". Do NOT alter its shape, colours or branding. THE SUBJECT: A young woman in her early twenties with light skin with a cool undertone, dark-brown hair in two small space buns, glossy nude-pink lips, wearing white oval sunglasses with pink frames and a cropped pale-pink tank top. She leans slightly to one side, one hand raised beside her face in a playful finger-frame pose, the other hand holding the toner bottle against her hip, label facing out, chin tipped down, looking over the sunglasses. THE FACE: Natural skin texture, no airbrushing, subtle pores, a faint flush on the cheeks. THE SETTING: A flat wallpaper backdrop of an invented repeating monogram — small coral-red four-point stars and the interlocked letters "PC" in coral-red on bubblegum pink. No real luxury brand logos. THE LIGHT: Flat, bright, even light on her, like a cut-out photo pasted onto the backdrop. THE KEY DETAILS: Slightly jagged hand-cut edges around her silhouette. THE MOOD: Punchy pink and coral, retro digital collage. THE COMPOSITION: Square frame, waist-up, she sits right of centre, head in the upper-middle with headroom, monogram visible all around. THE CAMERA: Low-res mid-2000s digital camera look, deep focus. THE AFTER EFFECT: Rainbow chromatic-aberration fringing along the cut-out edges of her silhouette, a light RGB-split glitch, faint scanline texture over the whole image. THE LABEL: The medicube wordmark legible.

The collage edit came from the board too. One of the images had a cut-out border and a little rainbow glitch on the edges, so I described both in the prompt.

3. Attach the real product and start with the hero

Then I attach a clean photo of the product so the bottle and label come out right instead of guessed. I kept the whole set square.

The hero is the bottle on a seamless pink sweep with a giant bubblegum bubble behind it. And listen, it's not perfect. I asked for a pink bubblegum bubble and got a clear glass ball instead. The pink gum did show up later in the bath shot.

Exact prompt

Create a new photorealistic image. Preserve the exact bottle, label and colours of the product, from the first reference. THE VIBE: A candy-coated early-2000s beauty fantasy — sticky-sweet, glossy, a little bratty. Everything lives inside one monochrome pink universe, from pale ballet pink to bubblegum, and the toner is the queen of it. IDENTITY LOCK: The product from the first reference — the tall clear cylindrical bottle with a white flip-top cap, filled with translucent blush-pink liquid, a white label band with the dark-grey "medicube" wordmark and "PDRN PINK CICA SOOTHING TONER", two pink-outlined ingredient pills, and a thin pink stripe under the label. Do NOT alter its shape, colours or branding. THE SUBJECT: The bottle stands upright, slightly off-centre, on a seamless surface, turned a few degrees so the label catches the light. THE SETTING: A seamless bubblegum-pink paper sweep that curves from floor to wall with no horizon. Directly behind the bottle floats one giant, perfectly round glossy bubblegum bubble, larger than the bottle, like a halo, with a soft specular window highlight on its surface. THE LIGHT: One large soft key from upper left through diffusion, gentle fill, soft graded shadow falling to the right, a warm pink cast across everything; glossy specular kicks on the bottle shoulder and on the bubble. THE KEY DETAILS: The liquid inside the bottle glows translucent pink where light passes through it. The bubble's surface is shiny with a faint stretched-gum texture. THE MOOD: Y2K candy-glam; pastel, punchy-saturated pinks; playful luxury. THE COMPOSITION: Square frame, bottle occupying the lower two-thirds slightly left of centre, bubble haloing behind its upper half, generous pink negative space. THE CAMERA: Editorial beauty campaign still, 100mm macro lens at eye level, moderate depth of field keeping the bottle crisp and the bubble a touch soft; clean commercial finish in the spirit of a Wes Anderson pastel palette. THE LABEL: The medicube wordmark and product name sharp and legible; the small volume text and ingredient pills may sit slightly soft.

4. Split it into 5 people shots and 5 product shots

I said "I want 5 people shots and 5 product shots, give me range". Range is the part I cared about most here, so every shot got its own job:

  • Product: the hero, an overflowing glass, a cone on the beach, a macro pour and a flat lay.
  • People: a selfie, a lips and nails close-up, a party, the collage and a bubble bath.

Each one sits at a different distance, from drops landing on a cotton pad up close to a wide shot of a whole bathroom.

Create a new photorealistic image. Preserve the exact bottle, label and colours of the product, from the first reference. THE VIBE: An intimate beauty close-up — all gloss, nails and ritual. Soft, tactile and sweet, in a completely pink world. Do NOT alter its colours or branding. THE SUBJECT: A tight crop of a woman's lower face and hands: glossy pink lips slightly parted in a soft smile at the top-right of frame; her left hand with long pink-chrome almond nails tips the toner bottle, cap open, so a few drops of pink liquid fall onto a round white cotton pad held in her right hand in the foreground. THE FACE: Warm-medium skin with a golden undertone, natural skin texture, visible pores and fine peach fuzz on the cheek and chin, lips with fine vertical texture and natural colour variation, no airbrushing. THE SETTING: A seamless soft-pink background, completely out of focus. THE LIGHT: Soft diffused beauty light from the front-left, gentle falloff, pink-toned; glossy highlights on the lips, nails, bottle and falling drops. THE KEY DETAILS: The drops are clear pink and visible mid-air; the cotton pad shows the first damp pink spot. THE MOOD: Pastel, glossy, sensorial. THE COMPOSITION: Square frame, extreme close-up; lips cropped by the top-right edge, bottle diagonal across the centre, cotton pad lower-left foreground. THE CAMERA: Beauty editorial, 100mm macro, shallow depth of field with focus on the falling drops and the pad; polished campaign finish in the spirit of Deakins. THE LABEL: Bottle partially cropped; the medicube wordmark recognisable, fine print soft.

The props here came straight off the moodboard list: pink chrome almond nails, glossy lips, a cotton pad.

5. Break the color once

The whole board is pink, and 10 pink images in a row get flat fast. The board had one way out, the soft-serve cone against a blue sky. So I gave one product shot a beach with pale blue sky and teal water, and the pink pops way harder next to it.

Exact prompt

Create a new photorealistic image. This is a photograph taken on a bright beach from the start — not a composite. Rebuild the entire scene as if shot natively here, with unified lighting across subject and environment. THE VIBE: A summer treat, but make it skincare. The sugary pink world spills out onto the beach, and the cool blue sea makes the pink pop even harder. THE SUBJECT: Two hands rise into frame. The left hand, with long glossy pink almond nails, holds a golden waffle cone topped with a tall, glossy swirl of blush-pink soft-serve. The right hand holds the toner bottle upright beside it, label facing the camera. THE FACE: Hands only — natural skin texture, no airbrushing, visible knuckle creases. THE SETTING: A pale sky-blue sky above a soft teal sea and a sliver of pale sand at the bottom, all softly out of focus. THE LIGHT: Bright hazy midday daylight from above and slightly behind, soft shadows, sparkly specular highlights on the glossy swirl and on the bottle. THE KEY DETAILS: The swirl just starting to soften at one edge with a single glossy drip; the waffle-cone grid is crisp. THE MOOD: Pastel pink against cool sky blue; carefree, sweet, nostalgic. THE COMPOSITION: Square frame, cone and bottle at the same height, together in the centre-left, filling the middle two-thirds against the blue. THE CAMERA: Shot on an iPhone, candid summer snapshot, sharp foreground, background naturally soft from distance. THE LABEL: The medicube wordmark and product name legible; small copy soft.

6. Present it person, product, person

When it was done I said "vary it go people, product, people". Alternating keeps the set moving, so you never get three bottles in a row. I ended on the widest shot, the bubble bath, since it has the most going on.

Create a new photorealistic image. This is a photograph taken in a pink-tiled bathroom from the start — not a composite. Rebuild the entire scene as if shot natively here, with unified lighting across subject and environment. THE VIBE: The ultimate self-care indulgence — soaking in a pink bubble bath like a pop princess, blowing gum, not a care in the world. Dreamy, sugary, a little ridiculous in the best way. THE SUBJECT: A woman in her mid-twenties with medium-tan skin with a warm-gold undertone and long dark-brown wavy hair clipped up with a pink claw clip, shoulders and one arm visible above a tub of pink foam bubbles; she leans back against the tub, arm draped over the edge, blowing a big pink bubblegum bubble, eyes half-closed and relaxed. The toner bottle stands on the tub rim beside her hand, label facing the camera. THE FACE: Natural skin texture, no airbrushing, a dewy sheen from the steam, individual strands of hair with flyaways. THE SETTING: A retro bathroom with glossy pastel-pink square tiles, a clawfoot tub painted pink, a small pink rubber duck, a fluffy pink bath mat, soft steam in the air. THE LIGHT: Soft window light from the left, diffused by steam, warm pink bounce off the tiles, gentle highlights on the foam and bottle. THE KEY DETAILS: The bubblegum bubble round and glossy; foam dense and pink. THE MOOD: Pastel, dreamy, warm-nostalgic. THE COMPOSITION: Square frame, medium-wide shot; the tub runs across the lower half, the woman left of centre, the bottle on the rim right of centre, tiles filling the top third. THE CAMERA: Editorial lifestyle, 35mm at a slightly high angle, moderate depth of field with gentle background softness, in the spirit of Sofia Coppola's pastel intimacy. THE LABEL: The medicube wordmark legible; small copy soft.

Why it works

The moodboard already made most of the decisions. The palette, the props, the textures, the crops and even the one blue break were all sitting in the board. Having the agent spell that out first meant every prompt pulled from the same list, so 10 different setups still came out looking like one campaign.

Your turn: grab a moodboard you've been sitting on and ask your agent what it sees before you make anything.

And if you'd rather skip the prompting, Emero turns your moodboard into prompts for you and remembers your product for the next set, at cost.
